Students from Lambeth College Princes Trust Team Programmes are enjoying playing more Cage Cricket as part of their personal development helping to improve on team building by supporting each other, communication skills encouraging each other throughout the game.
Portsmouth Football Club’s community arm, Pompey in the Community (PITC), now has a Cage Cricket kit to use, thanks to a donation from Dr David Allen, a well-known Portsmouth resident and former University lecturer.
A new Cage Cricket kit, funded by Southampton City Council’s Community Chest Grant’s Scheme, has now gone into St Mary’s – one of the most diverse and deprived communities in Southampton. The kit will be maintained by West Itchen Community Trust (WICT), based in Derby Road.
Whilst Cage Cricket continues to expand around the UK, the Scottish Highlands is perhaps not the first place that springs to mind. In Oban participation in Cage has exploded since 2012, proving to be a hugely popular pastime, even in the depths of a Highland winter.
